Liftor Replacement Costs.

Asked by austin_michels Aug 08, 2020 at 10:51 PM about the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I bought an 09 Chevy Silverado 1500 recently
with what sounds like a lifter tick. The dipstick is
stained with oil so Im guessing at one point they
ran out of oil and it hurt the lifter. How much would
it cost for the whole lifter to be replaced. It says
around 1-1.5 but I imagine more.

Heads have to come off and you will need a new camshaft as well as the lifters. If small metal particles have circulated throughout the engine oil system than a replacement engine might be needed also. Get some estimates. It will be expensive.
