Crankshaft Position Sensor error code keeps coming up after being replaced. Still fails intermittently when I hit bumps. Any ideas as to what the real problem might be?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 2009 Dodge Avenger R/T 3.5L. This winter after I had gotten my
battery replaced I started getting an error code that was for the Crankshaft
Position Sensor Intermittent failure. Every time I would hit a bump it would
hiccup and the engine light would come on. Just recently I was going down
a bumpy road and the engine light came on and started flashing. So my dad
replaced the sensor the next day. However, the problems still remain and the
error code is still there. We are completely stumped. Not sure if its the
computer going bad itself, a circuit, the battery terminals, the timing belt.
Has anybody had this same issue or does anyone have any ideas of what it
might be?

I heard that you need to reset the PCM. There are several methods online, from pulling neg battery cable to doing that plus ECM fuse to turning ignition to start, not run and waiting for 1 min. I have also heard that this will only erase temp codes and Crank+shaft position sensor o P0339 is not one of them and it takes a shop with scanner to reset it.

This is my current issue at the start of winter. I've had the crankshaft sensor placed twice. Only ran a few days. Did you get your car fixed?

I’m having very similar issues, replaced the censor with a new one and still get the same check engine error code. Any ideas or methods of what else can be the root cause?

To those that were having similar issues. I broke down and went to a dealership... They ran a diagnostic test and did a "Throttle Body Update"! That cost me about $80 and it has driven fine every since. I would recommend doing that.
