CEL came on after service and 115 miles - Reset?
2005 Ford Escape - just serviced, oil change, cleaned the Oxygen sensor, ran
diagnostics (alarm issues) no errors reported. Filled up with gas, drove it about 115
miles(Saturday) Drove Monday and Tuesday and drove this morning - the CEL came
on en-route back to home -not over heating -checked oil -it's good - opened fuel cap
and re-placed it - started engine - CEL still on. This is my brothers vehicle. I have an
07 Escape that randomly has the the fuel cap light come on and after re-seating the
cap generally takes 5-10 miles for the light to go off - I do not think the 05 model has
the gas cap light on the dash cluster (but I could be wrong). Do we need to just drive it
and see if the light goes off or do I have to reset the CEL ? Could it be a preset
"maintenance warning"? The vehicle has 98749 miles on it and is not driven very often.
(about 2000 miles a year if that).
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
P.
