Outback shifter moves while accelerating

Asked by ElClimbr Jun 12, 2018 at 04:00 PM about the 2009 Subaru Outback 2.5i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The shift stick on my 2009 Outback pulls (about a centimeter, I believe towards neutral) during acceleration, and then settles back into its gear when I let off the throttle.  It never slips or comes out of gear, just moves slightly.  I cannot feel any change in the feel of the car when this is happening, and there is no noise associated with it--just this slight movement in the shifter.  What might this indicate, and is it problematic?

That is just the engine and transmission moving on the mounts a bit. I would not worry about it but you could have a mechanic look at the engine and transmission mounts if it concerns you.
