Subaru Outbacks....TheSubaruGuruBoston?
Asked by FoxTracks Jan 05, 2017 at 08:36 AM about the 2009 Subaru Outback 2.5i Special Edition
Question type: Shopping & Pricing
Hi, All. I'm interested in speaking with
TheSubaruGuruBoston. Suby Guru - How can I
contact you directly?....I'm car shopping after
totalling my beautiful '09 Outback 2.5I SE 5M and
am searching for a replacement from a reputable
dealer that truly knows Subys and doesn't wear a
$2000+ shiny suit to work and spout empty
platitudes as self-entertainment while selling. I'd
love to hear from you and likely buy from you - I
read in a thread here on CG that you source '08 &
'09 OB''s for your clients...Ty in advance for your
help!

Ernie, if you see this and you would like me to remove your number from this post just let me know.
I am pretty sure Guru has his business phone number in his profile which is public.

Hi Folks, Yes, that's TSG's public number. I may spend this year sourcing a few rare '08-'09 OB gems, but the bulk of my interest will be with the '13-14 OBs (no wonky- handling '10-12 for me!), '10+ Legacy Sedans, and '12+ Imps (no CTs nor Foresters). Anyone is welcome to call for private consults as well. but if you think the topic deserves broader audience post it here. Note that over 3+ decades I've my Subies now in about 30 US States and perhaps 6-7 countries. Interesting how an automotive hobby took over my life.... Those wishing to see my current small inventory can search Craigslist in Boston to peruse my biased rants as well. Otherwise I don't advertise as I'm in semi-retirement mode. Cheers, and Happy You Near!

I don't post my inventory (half dozen Subies) here on CarGuru as their naive valuation algorithms reward city-driven low mileage specimens rather than the highway-driven younger "gems" that I carefully unearth within the wholesale market. Too bad, as they're a nice group here in Cambridge.
Need advice on my outback. Please contact me Ernie
Post your question and we will try to help. There is no way to contact you. It is best to start a new question thread.
Ern. I called your number and left a VM. 1 (781) 483*3922* Arlington, MA
1. Once the car warms up (7-8 miles down the road) it starts to lose power. 2. Full gas on the pedal gives little power for 6 seconds or so, then it starts to speed up They’re looking at it as we speak, but my worst fear is the CVT went out, which the dealership has told me is an $8000 repair. At this point, idk what to do... any advice would be helpful. In summary: 2/21 - New Engine 6/6 - Transmission body valve and harness 6/14 - Engine Harness 9/28 - Catalytic convertor, o2 sensor 9/30 - who knows....
Idk why but I keep getting messages saying “thank you your answer should be posted shortly” and it won’t post....

Most of my posts aren’t posting for some reason
Post a question if you have one. You seem to be avoiding actually asking a car repair question.
I'll call 1783, but it sounds like something weird is going on here that a proprietary Subaru scan might require.
Used gen 1 CVTs are pretty cheap to swap in (maybe $1.5k total), so it's not the end of the world.
