You are wise to ask, as an abused Subaru is something you don't want to get into- ask for maintenance and repair documents- if not available, then take the car to a Subaru specialist to do a pre-purchase inspection- if it passes, if the car has been cared for, a used Subaru can take care of you for a long time- if not- ignore this advice at your peril-

I agree with the above post. I'd like to add IMHO the length a car stays on the market will usually tell you if it really is a good deal or not.

Make sure you get it checked out first. And also when you reach around 130,00k miles is when you need to get it out by a mechanic for precautions.
