Durango 20009 Temp gauges, Whats normal ?

Asked by Guru953WJL Jan 20, 2021 at 09:16 AM about the 2009 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD

Question type: General

I have a Durango 2009. The engine temp gauge reads in the bottom of the
gauge between the the two lower indicator lines when the engine has warmed
up. Is this a problem, is it normal?

That seems kind of low. If coolant temperature is always below 180 degrees the engine will run in loop 1 mode and will burn more gas. If it's been a while since u replaced the thermostat or u never have, replace it and u'll eliminate that posibility of thermostat being bad or missing.

You can use a non contact thermometer to read the temperature at the thermostat housing or the top radiator hose. You should see a minimum of 195 degrees.
