Are voltage stabilizers worth buying and do they actually help anything?

Theoretically it helps the spark resulting in small hp and mpg gain, also brighter headlights and improved audio. All it does however is hook to battery terminals, think it'll work?

Worthless IMO. A better idea would be to upgrade the wiring for your battery. The ground cables are good ones to start with.
