If you take car to auto parts store most will check codes for free.
Can't do that with an audi regular obd's only get surface issues with a VW. You need the car to be scanned with a rosstech software So find your self a vw/audi specialist shop and have them scan it. Some will even do a quick scan for free if they are not that busy jsut to give you an idea what could be going wrong.

I have a 2008 vw eos and when I had a vacuum system leak, the codes at auto zone were showing that both o2 sensors were bad, all four cylinders were misfiring, and several other things. across the top of the printout that they gave me though (btw props to auto zone for giving out a detailed list and descriptions of tnhe codes found. orielly's does NOT do that) it said that the most likely culprit for most of the major issues was the vacuum leak. When my mechanic fixed the vacuum leak, auto zone showed no more codes and I had a car that sounded more like a car rather than an oversized hot wheel with a bad Harley engine. the second weird thing that happened was that when it did start to run really rough because of the vacuum leak, it died a couple times while driving down the road. a friend of mine just happened to know a trick and it worked first time. Put the car in park (or neutral if it won't go to park, turn it off, TAKE THE KEYS COMPLETELY OUT OF THE IGNITION, put them back in and start it (somehow taking the key out and putting it back in resets the ignition switch). he said that if it continued to give me trouble, to have the ignition switch looked at.
