Most smart phones save images at 300 DPI and around 5,000 pixels wide (or higher), which is much too large for most image file uploads. You can use your phone's settings to lower image resolution, OR you can open the image file on your computer in a program like Photoshop ($$), Microsoft Paint (free) or other image-editing software, and reduce resolution. I reduce images to 72 DPI and use 1,000 or 1,200 pixels for width. (72 DPI is an older standard for printing and web images, but I still use it and it keeps file sizes down).
