key entry

Asked by Guru1SR37 Sep 09, 2019 at 01:39 PM about the 2009 MINI Cooper S

Question type: General

My 2009 mini cooper S haven't been started for a couple of years. The key will
not open the door.  Is the problem a new battery or to have a  new key made

Not sure if you would have figure this out by now but just in case you are still looking for info... You may be able to have the battery charged at the shop you bought it at or any place that sells your battery. If it takes a charge you should be good to go and won't need to buy a new one. To get into your mini you'll need to have AAA or another auto service come out and open the door for you. Both the fob and key will not work with a dead battery.
