Timing is wrong in the mini

Asked by RenoHart Nov 10, 2020 at 09:00 AM about the 2009 MINI Cooper Clubman FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I just bought a used 2009 Mini Cooper. I had to
replace a head gasket . As we were taking the head
off the timing chain guide rail broke and had to fix
it. So unfortunately due to my best efforts the
engine is not in time and have to put it back in time.
I am unsure if a timing light is needed or if there is
another option I can use.

You need to get qualified help before you destroy and bend all the valves if it is not too late.

Hey Bob so that didn’t quite answer my question. I actually wanted to know tools and everything that I will need to set it in time myself. I just replaced the head gasket valves, and other parts. I bought it at a dealership. However while we had the head off it somehow slipped out of time. So I was asking for specs, and tools and just knowledge on it before I have to pay more than what it’s worth to put it back in time.
