Crank but intermittent start of F150

Asked by klarsonsmith Sep 14, 2015 at 05:55 PM about the 2009 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck will start fine for a long time and then all of the sudden it won't.  I was told to switch relays, which I did, and it would start, and it did until yesterday.  After towing to Ford Dealership they were working on it and out of the blue it started.  They said b/c it started they can't find anything wrong to check.  Worried this could happen anytime in the future and I would be stranded.  Any suggestions?  HELP

Intermittent problems are the hardest to diagnose- and the Ford dealer has seen plenty of these mysteries and knows how to respond- with a shrug of the shoulders-

It is almost impossible to diagnosis an electronic problem which is intermittent. Vehicles today are loaded with them, unfortunately. A systems test run when the offending part is functioning gets you nowhere.
