What else could cause 2009 Audi A4 coolant being sucked into somewhere, but no leaks? Car overheats now.

Asked by Christine Jan 17, 2015 at 10:07 AM about the 2009 Audi A4 2.0T quattro Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We took the car to an auto repair
shop because coolant was being
sucked into somewhere, but no
leaks. The shop replaced the radiator
hoses & bled the system. Problem
came back. Took the car back. They
did a pressure test & found nothing.
They replaced the coolant reservoir
cap thinking that was it. Problem
came back. Took the car to an Audi
dealership. They found air in the
system, but no leaks. They pressure
tested the system, replaced it with
new coolant after pulling vacuum on
coolant system & evacuated all air
bubbles. They replaced the cap to
OEM specs. Problem came back.
Took it back to the Audi dealership.
They found a code for coolant temp
sensor & the top radiator hose was
getting hot. They replaced the water
pump (we already replaced it a year
prior), coolant temp sensor, &
thermostat housing assembly. They
bled the system, test drove &
rechecked. Problem came back with
a vengeance. The coolant was still
being sucked into somewhere & the
car started overheating pretty badly.
We had to get it towed back to the
Audi dealership (it is there now).

there is a kit to do a combustion leak test on your engine. it sniffs the cooling system to see if there are combustion gasses. if the test is positive then you have a bad head gasket. the kit is about 40 bucks. there are good you tube vids on how to perform the test.

Thanks guys! Since the car is currently at the Audi dealership, we'll see what they say. I'll check when we get the car back.

I leave my 2012 audi at the shop trying to fix the brakes. The mechanic left the door open to much and the battery die.Him connect inverse the jumper in the trunk trying to charger the car. Car began beeping and now dosen't star. does it has any particular fuse to star??
