Driver's window stops when going up

Asked by JimCap Mar 26, 2017 at 08:43 AM about the 2009 Ford F-150 Platinum SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I put the drivers window up it only raises a few inches then stops... I wait
it will go up a little more... I wait it will again.... Takes multiple attempts over 5-6
min to get the window up. Any idea what this might be?

Drivers side electric window motors are usually the first to go out because they are used more often. What you describe is a classic example of a motor going out. Try this. With the window partially up, grab the top of the glass with both hands and pull up while someone pushes the button. If you feel the motor trying to assist, change the motor inside the door.

JimCap, did you ever find out the exact cause of the issue? My 2009 f150 Lariat is doing the exact same thing.

Did anyone find the issue? My 2015 lariat same thing, have to push the button multiple times to get window up or down
