Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’m looking into buying a 2009 BMW 3 series
convertible that has 75,801 miles on it, it is from a
non BMW dealer, 12k ticket. The last time it was at
an actual BMW dealership for maintenance was
about 6 years ago. Anyone ever had any issues with
these cars? It is my first luxury vehicle and I’m very
excited but I just want to make sure I understand
how much oil changes and general maintenance
would cost me. I do wish to drive a reliable vehicle
as I do have a Corolla that I know will run over 300k
I want to be able to to confidently say the BMW I’m
looking at would last that long?

@ Tom thank you for the brief answer, I’ve seen Many many older 3 series still out and about driving so I wouldn’t think it isn’t a reliable car. I just hear a lot of bad things about BMWs, i will definitely go along with your advice.

Thankfully it won’t be my only car, also have a 06 Titan, 07 corolla and a 09 civic, but the ambitious punk in me wants a luxury vehicle for the weekends and special events, I have a good friend of mine who’s also helping me look for the perfect car who happens to go to school at UTI for BMW and is willing to help me with any issues. From my research the timing chain can be a issue, I’ll make sure to continue to look for something with less miles and maybe something a little faster like a 335i, thank you for your response!!
