The OBC that measures mileage on my 2009 335I (and then uses that to measure miles to empty) has gone crazy. Is there a way of resetting, or is it a problem that must be fixed at BMW repair.

Asked by DavidBard Sep 08, 2014 at 12:09 AM about the 2009 BMW 3 Series 335i xDrive Coupe AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All of a sudden, the display that indicates the mileage I am getting as well as the miles to
empty has gone crazy - says I am getting 75 MPG.  Is there a way of resetting?

The chicken soup answer is disconnect the battery for about a half hour. That will clear the ECU and reset it. HOWEVER! You will need the radio code. And you may just get the anti theft system excited or confused. I call it the Chicken Soup approach because it couldn't hurt. Most of the time.
