IDK. Not a mechanic. I do own a 2009 328i E93. My first step would be to clear out the trunk. Remove all your possessions from the trunk. Latch any pins that keep the carpet in place. My second step would be to watch an online video that tells how to lubricate a BMW E93. Such a video will tell you how, and it will tell you the names of the European compounds to apply. After you have the trunk clean, the hardware clean, and the hardware lubricated, inspect the hardware carefully for any deformed braces. If everything looks good, push your convertible button again. Good luck.
