Asked by Brian Oct 21, 2016 at 12:47 PM about the 2009 Kia Sportage EX V6 4WD
Question type: Shopping & Pricing
Both cars have similar milage, 105K. The kia has
the upgraded interior while the Honda is a base
model. The CRV costs $6000 while the Kia is
$7500. Could use some guidance on reliability
and a recommendation as I'm leaning towards the
Kia.

The crv is one of Hondas most reliable vehicles . The Kia will have more.power. either way make sure you check for air bag recalls on both . Good luck
Dear evil, once over 100k, does it become more of maintaining the car as opposed to the reliability of the model? I really like the kia since it has heated seats, moonroof, etc vs a base CR V.

Crv maintenance costs are pretty minimal even at 100k miles . Residual value is higher on the crv as well. Ultimately it's going to be what you feel suits you better . I tell my customers a few things when buying a used car amd ill share them with you . It's always good to havent inspected by a professional you trust ,if the seller bawks at your request to habe it inspected walk away . Recall checks in the wake of the "Takata" air bag problems is a must for your safety amd those who are with you . This isn't just a single manufacturer defect..it's a world wide recall across many manufactureers supplied by one air bag company .and lastly everyone including me suffers from ( new ride adrenaline syndrome ) . Especially when it's sometjing we realy want in the first place .example you drive the car and the cool radio , gadgets , dash trim heated seats .etc blind you to what realy should be focused on . Odd vibrations , engine noises ,shifting issues etc. Then we it home and a few days later it seems the car all.of the sudden is falling apart .lol . Don't be a victim of your own desires .pay attention ,ask questions ,get it inspected .have fun and good luck to you let us know which you end up with .:)
Thanks, we test drove both. I ended up not liking how the Sportage drove. I think that since I have been driving small cars for so long now, it felt larger than I was expecting. The CR-V was far closer to what I am used to. We're going to get the CR-V inspected and go from there.
