Can Anyone Identify this Part?

Asked by J Sep 05, 2021 at 10:03 PM about the 2010 Ford Fusion SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving down the highway I heard a bursting sound
from my engine and then it started knocking. We looked at
it when we got home and there was a hole in the bottom of
the engine. Can Anyone tell me what part is cracked in this
picture? It is taken from under the car and looking up. You
may need to zoom in to see the cracked part.

I think you threw a rod. Time for a new car.

I agree, thrown rod. Junk it and move on. Not worth fixing. Sorry! Jim

Looks like you've thrown a rod, which took out the motor and transaxle. They can be purchased used; however, that's always buyer be careful and might be more as a unit than your vehicle is worth. Really sorry! Good thing you made it home in one piece.
