This is the problem I am having with a neighbor's 2010 Toyta Corolla LE 1.8L. Cannot pull OBDII/EOBD codes. Says "No Response" Cannot pull ABS codes. Says "NOT DETECTED" Toyota recommended "replace Steering Angle Sensor to remedy problem" and wanted to charge $400 some odd dollars for the sensor and over 300 for labor. A mechanic outside Toyota told me that this is only about an hours worth of labor. You can get an aftermarket sensor from RockAuto for $118+shipping. There are some that are above $400 another midrange part around $250 and one for $118. The $118 Part number is "Standard Motor Products part number SWS70."

I am diagnosing a friends car with the same symptoms: Tach, Speedo, Temp and A/C all went out. ABS and VSC illuminated. OBD not working. I took the steering column covers off (no screws, just pop clips) and unplugged the Steering Angle Sensor. This made the gauges and A/C return to normal function. ABS and VSC lights still illuminated, likely due to inability to read the unplugged sensor. Order a used sensor from eBay. Will post the results when I get it installed.

Same thing happened on my daughters 2013 Toyota Corolla. Speedometer, tachometer, temp gauge was not working and the AC was not blowing cold. I unplugged that Steering wheel Angle Sensor everyone is talking about here and everything started working again.
