Oil Change

Check your owners manual. It tells you all of this. If it says you can run the 0W I would recommend it and buy a full synthetic version. Otherwise your fuel economy and performance will suffer slightly.
As a toyota technician use 0w20 toyota blend synthetic. it is a CERTIFIED 10,000 mile service interval and don't forget to rotate your tires at 5,000 miles either. Definitely recommend dealership for the first 40k though. Otherwise an on-going issue with the vehicle is most likely not to be fixed and could cost you.
see youe dealer re-this vehicle.i thought i would get mine done @ 5k and a freind of mine told me to wait until 10k.he is a service manager @ toyota dealer.its a synthetic oil or something like that i dont remember, but i figured since it was under warranty i would use the dealer for the first couple of changes..
I totally agree with Matthew J Dutcher. You will need a SYNTHETIC motor oil in a 0W-20 grade. A SYNTHETIC 5W-20 will also work, but Toyota says to change the 5W-20 at 6 month or 5,000 mile intervals, so please be mindful of that. Also, since you have a 3-year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, why NOT go to a dealership for routine check-ups? It is my personal preference to have the dealer catch any issues with anything in my car prior to the warranty expiring. Just another small recommendation: you can use the toyota.com website to download a pdf of scheduled maintenance, recommended oil viscosity and specs along with a lot of other info on your car. You can locate this by going to www.toyota.com, then at the bottom of the page place your cursor over the "for owners" tab, then click on "scheduled maintenance". Then, you can enter your year and model (2010 and Camry) and get a PDF. I am writing this on 8/25/2010 and was able to download a pdf. In the future, you will most likely only be able to look at scheduled maintenance by mileage intervals (30,000 miles, 35,000 miles, etc.). I hope you and your Camry have a long life together, ha ha.

I have a Toyota Camry 2012 what's the proper oil
Doing oil change at 10k using synthetic oil of course, will make your car break down sooner. The dealers always recommend that because they want to make us keep on buying more and more every time. So far 5k to 6k for synthetic it's perfect and 3 months or 3k for conventional oil.

Agree with Guru. Just look at your oil stick after 5-6k. Synthetic or not...once the oil is turning black, it is full of dirt and tiny metallic particles that will cause wear to your engine...synthetic does of course last longer than conventional, but it's not a miracle oil...dirt and metal in synthetic oil will still do it's damage. I would never go beyond 6k with synthetic...and I don't care how 'certified' the mechanic is who says different.
JoeMan: I agree. There are many circumstances. We have to look how much dirty is oil, since dust and maetal particles can damage engine. And the cost of oil and filter for 2,500 to 4,000 miles is not as relevant as cost of an engine.

I could say the same thing goes for mechanics, they like to yap about doing every 3k miles because that way they get you in the shop more. Check the oil, synthetic will look almost new after 3 k miles no matter how mich old mechanics like to say otherwise
I had a 2008 Toyota Camry OR. I always used regular oil! One day the gentleman that work in the shop said, you know your car requires synthetic oil you know. I said really, I never knew That's! I heard it last longer, let's give it a try! Worse thing I ever did. They told me 5-6 before oil change or the miles they quoted! Low and behold with in 2 months my red oil light was blinking, I needed oil. These people all knew me, and they didn't even charge me full price! Long story short, my engine locked up today!!! It died.... the synthetic oil ran out before its time and caused the engine to overheat when she seized and was locked and they wanted up to $4,000 for a new transmission so I ended up junking the car. Now I find out that synthetic oil so much thinner and it's best to use regular oil such a bad lesson to learn so don't listen to all the hype about synthetic oil;(
What is synthetic oil in the engine has to do with failed transmission? Did it cause CD player stop working too? http://oilmiami.com
Use 5-20 full syn. will make your engine last longer on all engines. 5-20 will make the engine smoother at start up. If you live in the east coast region 0 -20 is better for cold weather at start up.
I use regular oil.cange it about 5,000 miles.I have 385,000 miles on the motor!!
Use 0 W 20 Your gonna get at least 300k miles out of engine even if you miss a few changes. Baby your Toyota and expect around 1 million miles
Since I live in Mexico´s border with a warm to hot weather most of year, I use full syn 5W30 change every 7.5K miles with appropiate filter. around 45mph speed, urban use. Here we have around 102 Farenheith on summer, around 85 spring an fall, 40 to 55 on winter (only around 15 days with 28 to 32.) Here is hard to find 0W30 (I think this would be a better option). Oil cap says 0W20.
What type of engine oil I have to use for my Toyota Camry 2013
I have a 2017 camary toyoto the dealer changed my oil at about 14, 900 and now I have 17,570 miles my maintance required light is on do that mean I need a oil change. Thanks Evelyn Arrington in Dallas texas
My 2014 camry has 85,000 miles , when I start car I hear bearing noise, before oil pressure builds, maybe 2 or 3 seconds, 0w 20w is no good, too thin, will not liube bearings properly with high millage, I will go aganist dealer recommendation and use 10 w 30w, especially with 90degree temp , right now, don't care about gas mileage, what engine to last, I am ASE certified, and NYS inspector
Weath oil l ues for Toyota Camry 2013 year, after 98000 miles.

Change the oils whenever you get the urge to take a . Redundant question. Lookat owners manual and follow instruction.
