what should i have my wd on when driving in normal condition 2wd or 4wd

I think I get it, normal driving you should be in 2-wheel drive, conditions on highway for 4-wheel drive you should be 4-high, avoid running on pavement with 4-wheel engaged, ok flying down the highway in snow, not rain, driving especially in town around corners on pavement with 4-wheel on, is hard on the front axles. When 4-wheel is engaged, yes there should be some indication (a light on) letting you know you are in 4-wheel drive.
