What is causing my liftgate issue?

Asked by Guru9MGXW5 Feb 04, 2023 at 03:11 PM about the 2010 Cadillac SRX Luxury AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I purchased a 2010 SRX and the seller told me that it needed a new
actuator. I did some research and decided to change out the control module
first. I was able to unlatch the hatch but had to raise it manually which was
way better than crawling into the rear with a screwdriver to do it. It worked for
a few weeks and stopped. When I press on the release, it doesn't release
and I now hear what I assume is the hydraulic pump running which I can't
say that I heard before but can't be sure. I just changed the actuator and still
doesn't work.I checked the fuse and its good. Any ideas

Sophisticated vehicles like this need to be diagnosed and repaired by a facility, like your local Cadillac or other GM Dealer, who is familiar with them. Most likely the pervious owner got an estimate for the repairs and decided to sell the vehicle instead of fixing it. GM's electronics are troublesome at best and don't get better with age. My advice is get it fixed at the local GM Dealer and don't put a lot of money in it from this point on. Good luck to you! Jim
