Why does my license plate keep falling off?

How do I secure my plate on the back of my car. The bolts/ screws have fallen off. And there is no way for me to attach it.

The threads inside the holes and/or the bolts are stripped. Depending on what state you live in, you can get by with taping it inside the rear window until you get new bolts and/or nuts to fix it
