My car doesn't accelerate when pedal is pressed after a complete stop

My car is a 2009 Nissan cube. I stopped at a red light and then pressed on the pedal to go and my car wouldn't move and then was creeping through the light. After the pedal was floored for several seconds it jerked forward and accelerated. SES light is not on. Quite scary in traffic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you find out what the problem was? I also have a 2009 nissan cube and it has the same problem as yours

I also have a 2009 Cube. I had the same issue and luckily just before the warranty ran out ....I had to have the transmission replaced. Now, 2019, I am having the same issue again...No warranty this time so I am out of luck.

Guys Alot of the acceleration problems on all types of cars that might pick ups is the catalytic converter is plugged up solid in the engine cannot building the RPMs because of all the back pressure it's already in exhaust. You can do this test by taking out the o2 sensor in front of the catalytic converter... My car starts up and runs fine but it does nothing when you push the accelerate pedal like you didn't even push it it doesn't fast idle does not do anything. And I find this kind of weird when it drove fine with when I parked in August of last year.
turn the key off then back on the car will accelerate that won't fix it but it will get you home ./.
We have a 2010 Nissan Cube when you start it up and try to go it will only go 20mph for about a mile or so then all of a sudden power kicks in an it takes off! Its not the transmission we’ve confirmed that. Any other ideas other then tranny or converter??

I have the same vehicle and have had the same experience that Brunswicker posted. On occasion, I have to turn the engine off, wait a minute, restart and then everything functions normally (as John mentioned in his post). I'm still looking for answers. When the transmission was initially replaced at 55,000 miles, the dealership would only say I had a bad transmission. 20,000 miles later, the vehicle has started doing this again. Why would it fail and then work perfectly fine just by shutting down the engine and restarting. Sounds like an electronic problem to me...
its the accelerator pedal sensor. Just had mine replaced, car drives like new. The part was $65 and my mechanic charged $70 to put it in....You're welcome :)
