Transmission Fluid and Brakes

My 2010 Edge has just over 70,000 miles.  I've had several mechanics look at the brakes and said 'no...you don't need brakes'.  I find that hard to believe.....what is the life expectance of brakes on an Edge.  Also, should the transmission fluid be changed @ 70,000 miles?

I find it hard to beleive as well, If you want to change the fuild go ahead. They say don't flush it, it could do harm.
