Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have taken it to 3 different dealers, and Chevrolet customer support with no
results.  Car runs so bad I bought another car to drive because I dont feel it is
safe to drive.  Hard shifting from 2 to 3 gear(Automatic)  tac will go crazy and
it will go into passinf gear when it feels like it, with no warning.

The Chevrolet Cobalt, the car at the center of the General Motors recall crisis, was a losing bet from the start. "The Cobalt wasn't designed to be the best compact car. It was done to make sure that GM met fuel economy standards and utilized manufacturing capacity that was already there," said Jesse Toprak, analyst with Cars.com. So it's not that surprising that the Cobalt, and the versions of the car sold by GM's Pontiac and Saturn brands, weren't great cars. That's undoubtedly what GM CEO Mary Barra was referring to when she referenced the "cost culture" that governed what is now referred to as the old GM, prior to its 2009 bankruptcy, during Congressional hearings on the recall. So in order to sell the 200,000 or so Cobalts that General Motors was building every year, it offered large cash incentives to buyers, and it sold them in bulk to rental car companies which bought them at rock-bottom prices. By 2010, the Colbalt's last full year on the market, fleet buyers accounted for more than 42% of its sales, according to figures from GM. GM declined to comment further for this article. Its one of two problems the way the tac goes crazy is often associated with the transmission control module which is a very common problem in the chevy cobalts, actuallyits the biggest problem and causes gauges to not work or go haywire, car to not shift at all, power steering to not work, among several other things.... At the same time it coukd also be the second most common problem which ive already had to replace in my 2005 automatic cobalt and thats the shift sensor solenoids one controls shifting of 1st and 2nd gears and the other controls the shifting of 3rd and 4th... The one for 1st and 2nd in mine was fried and partially melted so when it shifted from 1st to wnd it kicked hard and the would not shift from 2nd to 3rd at all it would redline in 2nd and stay stuck in gear... Either one of these 2 problems could be the cause of your problems among other possibilities or even a combination of the 2... I hope that this information is helpful to you... Thank you for taking the time to read this response.. I cant ever find answers to the problem that i am experiencing currently so i decided to take the time and help you out with an answer to your problem based on my prior experience and i honestly hope that u find this information usefull and can solve your problem through the suggestions in which i have provided... Have a blessed journey in life..
