I just purchased a Chevy Balt 2010 and am wondering if I need to puchase show tires or just go with all season. How does this car deal with say 2-3 inches of Adirondack snow on the road?

Snow tires are going to perform better in snow than all season tires do considering their tread pattern; however, due to the Cobalt not putting down a lot of torque to cause a loss of traction and having a good balance of weight on the front wheels, it should be able to pull itself through snow on a set of all seasons without a hitch.

I use snowtires in winter, no problems! I have a friend with all seasons lol, he can"t keep up. Get snows, for winter and allseasons summer save yourself the tire wear!

Good all seasons will definately do the job, but snow tires are always a lot better if you're going to be doing lots of winter driving. Cobalts do perform well in the snow though. If its a sport model like mine find a set of smaller rims so you don't have to pay through the nose for 18" snow tires. I bought a set of aluminum 16" rims from an Impala and got a great deal on a set of nearly new studded snow tires from my local shop that puts all his staff into new tires every fall and sells off all the year old ones to his regular customers like me. (I think I've paid for the addition to his house over the years, but that's another story.) Small investment, the car still looks good and it drives like a 4x4...well almost.

PS: Just noticed yours is an LS so you probably have 4 bolt wheels and likely not 18", but still, find a set of used aluminum wheels off something that fits your car so it doesn't have to look junky with those black painted rims everyone runs in the winter.
