Starter Problem

Asked by mebrowder Apr 29, 2016 at 09:12 PM about the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO; there are times when I push the button
and the car will not do anything.  We've found that tapping on the starter
will get it going again, so we assumed we needed to replace the starter.
We bought one and replaced it, but now it won't start at all.  The battery
was disconnected, but is now connected back.  Everything is the way it
should, but nothing happens other than accessory kicks in.  The dashboard
lights up, the radio clicked on, but it will not show that it is in drive or any
other gear, the oil, temperature, ect lights up.  I get cross traffic failure,
something about a collision malfunction..  Anyone have any idea what
might be going on?

Car is only 7 years old, but we replaced battery less than a year ago anyway. Everything else works, it's not the battery. Will check for corrosion between the body of the starter and the block that it bolts on and see if that is the issue.
