a ! symbol with a horseshoe underneath it came on! what does it mean?

It's the low air tire pressure light. One of your tires has a 5 to 8 pound difference in pressure than the others. Check the tire pressure on all 4 tires to find the culprit. I don't know if you live in a cold climate area, but don't forget to compensate for the temperature. Every 10 degrees up or down means a pound, so I'm thinking they all might be off. Pressures should be checked when the tires are cold i.e. driven 3 miles or less. I check mine every week in the drive way. That way if the tires are ok, you don't have to worry about it.
