engine noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I just recently got an oil change on my 2010 Chevy HHR. It seems like after I did this, when I accelerate the car (engine) sounds weird. Like a loud winding up sound, like a really old car. I can still hear it over the radio when volume is down low. What is this? I have about 84000 miles on the car. help?! Is it bad oil? I did ask for high mileage oil change when the guy suggested that I should get it. Was that a bad idea?

Yes, he sold you overpriced oil. 84K is not high mileage with today's cars and even then it's something you would only use when you have clear indication of a "tired" engine. I don't know if that is the source of your noise, you'll have to get your ear in the engine bay and hunt it down.
Bad serpentine belt idler or tentioner pulley will mke a winding noise bu It don't think it would be the oil
Have you checked the oil level after the service? It could be under filled or way over filled. Pull that dipstick out to see what it shows.
I have a 2006 hhr Chevy and it's making a noise on the top of the car..why?
