Air Conditioning

Hi. I just recently bought a Ford Escape 2010
model.  I understand the car is a bit old but is in
relatively good condition. However the AUTO
word keeps blinking while the air con is
running.  Is this normal? After starting the car it
displays manual then crossers over to AUTO
keeps blinking and doesn't stop.  It's does
seem to adjust the temperature okay though
and mechanically works fine including cold air.  
Is this how these things seem to operate?

tht means auto zone control like it will automatically come on if it gets to hot in the car or vice versus

So is it always flashing then? There doesn't seem to be a way to take it off AUTO flashing one it switches over?
