When you say "Hardly at all ... what does that mean? Do you mean the blower motor is running but no cold air is coming out or is the motor running slow ?. If all the motor speeds are present then the resistor is OK but if only a couple of speeds are working then the resistors could b open

$500 bucks for a resistor would guarantee your dealer a TOP POST on Craigslist and I would make that thief we aware that until everyone in town knew what a crook he was that it wwould be posted anywhere I could post it

like the 1 speed and 2 speed on the A/C control are the same almost not working and 3 and 4 work fine. and it does put out cold air on 3 and 4. from what ive read it sound like i need to replace the resister in the glove box.

This is a common problem with the Ford Escape. Many people have complained about it. The A/C blower resistors tends to fail. You will find them behind your glove box. Get the resistors from the dealer and you can replace it yourself. Cheap and easy. Not worth spending $500.00

The last resistor pack I bought from EBay $30 Auto-Zone has a great repair sight with schematics (sort of make me feel bad I bought the resistors somewhere else)

Thank you for your help, I went to pepboys and found one for $24. it is much better than $500,

If you can't find the location where it goes ... give me a holler ... almost all resistor packs are in the air flow provided by the blower ... that's what keeps them cool

So yesterday i completed the task and the AC is now working perfectly thank you for the help and advice from all. it took me about twenty min which is fine cause its better than paying $500 for some guy to do it while i leave me car at the dealership all day.
