3 windows wont work but one does

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

so here's the thing, my driver side window has been acting up for some time
now by not rolling up after going down, and i think it finally bit the dust.  so i
went and found a new used master panel switch which cost 45$ compared
to $150. so i took the old panel out and replaced it, now when i did that the
other 3 windows wont work anymore. ive tried from the driver side and the
passanger side. now after doing some research and going through the
resets nothing is working. which led me to think about the relay, but no. the
only thing that i can think of that is wrong now is that there is a bad wire
connection going from the door to the main fuse box, any suggestions?

TheSubaruGuruBoston yes I did. But the shop had just pulled it from a different car that and a window motor which both were checked before being sold the problem is that when I plug the “new” motor in it works but intermittently and the other 2 windows still don’t work

Check the wires in the hinge area of the drivers door where the wires come out of the body of the car and go into the door. Also check the wires where they go into the door to the master switch. And unplug the master switch and clean the connector with electrical contact cleaner. U can also take tha old master switch carefully apart and clean all the contacts with the electrical contact cleaner.

Good'un, Peter. Although I've seen MANY fractured wires in the roof-to-hatch harness, I've not had to repair similar in body-to-door harness. But it makes sense. As well, when I've tried to rebuild master switches I recall that it's not the electrical contacts that get intermittent, but the flimsy plastic construction just fails over time. Used ones are affordable online, of course. The failure is usually in the "double-click" auto up/down mechanism.

I've had several fractured wires in the door and roof hatch area, it's mostly common in GM and Ford... but it can happen in other models. Another common one is the clockspring behind the steering wheel.
