If I install a second battery utilizing an isolator, do I still need to upgrade my alternator?
The vehicle in question is a 2010 Subaru Forester (non-turbo).

No. It'll just take longer for the OE alt to fully charge BOTH batteries if they are allowed to run down. Remember, a car can run on a tiny motorcycle battery, as in racing apps.
