Why is there random loss of power with my 2010 Nissan 370z?

Asked by Narsi Sep 06, 2017 at 11:04 PM about the 2010 Nissan 370Z Touring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought the car a couple months ago. Loved it. Last couple weeks I've
noticed there is a hesitation when accelerating/loss of power. I've noticed this
by listening to the "Noise" of the car. Each gear I would shift I would hear my
car at 3,000 RPM to shift gears. Now I'm noticing to drive to around 3,500-
4,000 RPM's to get the same sound/shift with not as much power.

Before the problem- 1st to 2nd at 20 MPH 3,000 RPM
                                 2nd to 3rd at 30 MPH 3,000 RPM
                                 3rd to 4th at 40 MPH 3,000 RPM
                                 4th to 5th at 50 MPH 3,000 RPM
                                  5th to 6th at 60 MPH 3,000 RPM

After problem- 1st to 2nd at 15 MPH 3,000 RPM
                        2nd to 3rd at 25 MPH 3,000 RPM
                        3rd to 4th at 35 MPH 3.000 RPM
                         4th to 5th at 45 MPH 3,000 RPM
                         5th to 6th at 60 MPH 3,000 RPM
Basically I need to raise my RPM's another 500-1,000 in order to hear the
noise get enough power and reach the MPH to shift to the next gear.

Before the problem all I did was add spacers to the tires and get an oil
change.

Experiencing this problem I did the following to help:
-Change the Air filters
- Cleaned fuel injectors
- Added an exhaust
- Changed out all 6 spark plugs (helped with hesitation but not power)
- Checked any vacuum leaks

No one seems to know what problem this can be but knowing my car I know
there definitely is a problem. There was a mis-fire P0300 *Pending* code but
after I erased it last week it never came back.

Any idea what it could be?

I have a 2014 Roadster same thing, 1 out of every 10 times i drive after warming up, it starts off like i'm in 4th or 5th gear, it bogs then power comes on about ten seconds after, but any other time the power is immediately there. I found if i pull over turn off car count to ten: 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, etc. to 10 then restart and go, power is there like it supposed to be, strange. is it a transmission or fuel injection computer problem, (I"m sure it has fuel injection, i think it's naturally aspirated) it has 72,000 miles and a new transmission at 48,000 miles before i bought it

2014 coup here with the same issues. I’ve had it checked out at two different spots and they tell me nothing is wrong. Happens at random times, no pattern. Ok gonna try the stop and restart method MoJo mentioned cuz I have no clue what it is.

Hey guys I’m having the same issue with my 2013 at 85k. I haven’t gotten the chance to look at the transmission maybe not enough fluid or just needs a flush? There is definitely something up though I’ll ask some coworkers

2013 370Z Roadster with 6 speed manual and just under 28K miles. Original owner and maintained by the book. This issue happened to me the first time today after 7 years of pure joy. At first I thought maybe I was losing my feel for the stick and starting out in 3rd gear, but that was definitely not the case as I put it the floor in neutral at a red light and it took several seconds to rev up to the redline. Problem resolved after shutting off the car in the office parking lot and restarting. Also have a 2013 Infiniti FX37 with same engine and similar electronics that acts up randomly. May be time to freshen up my garage.

I have a 2011 370z base coupe automatic, at random times when I'm driving the traction control symbol appears on the dash and the car starts losing power and the only way that i can get power is if I turn the car off and then back on again, I've changed both of the throttle bodies, the air filter, the oil, and the spark plugs and the problem is still happening. please help

Wow i just googled this issue and this thread came up. I know for a fact some days when im driving my Z if i put it to the floor it feels powerful and spins through first gear up to 7k and even into 2nd with a quick shift. But other times like 5 minutes later it runs nothing like that???? Its infuriating!
