Air Conditioning

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I push my A/C button, it flashes 3 times and doesn't start up. My manual says that if the car senses a temp below 40 degrees, it will not allow the A/C to fire up. I have an external temp sensor behind the grill that reads the outdoor temp accurately.  Could my interior sensor need replacing?

There is a evaporator temp sensor but often times they are really difficult to reach without some or full dash disassembly My first thoughts would be to make sure the system is not low on refrigerant with the use of a gauge set and if possible use a code readier to see if there are no pending codes. If all that checks out would try to manually bump the clutch and see what happens there, Inside the engine bay there are high and low pressure sensors there too that can effect system operation. So until more diagnostics are done it could be one or several issues. Hopefully you just need a recharge. Good Luck!

Make sure it's not set on defrost. It has to be at least one click past a certain position but it's dark outside and I'm not going to go look.

My 2020 is doing that. Despite the interior being hot as hell, the temp indicator on the infotainment system will say 21degrees. After it starts to climb the a/c will begin to produce cold output. It takes about 15 minutes for it to decide to go up in temp. Surely this isn’t normal operating procedure. taking it into the dealer this week.

Hi I don’t know if I have an answer but 2015 Chevy traverse AC on switch button was just blinking. My remedy in my fix was Freon I bought a can of Freon loaded it up and it worked. Prior to this event I had an HVAC explode in coolant was all over the place. Place the HVAC hose and the coolant in the AC did not work. Don’t know if I lost pressure or what happened but put Freon in and it worked.
