STATION WAGONS ARE MAKING A COMEBACK?

It appears that "station wagons" like the Subaru Outback are being marketed again and
are enjoying a resurgence in popularity for their versatility. A recent commercial featured
a new VW sport wagon. Did this factor in when you purchased your Subaru Outback?

Hi Mark. There is an argument for both sides of that. http://www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/the-rise-fall-and-potential-rebirth-of-americas-station-wagon.html/?a=viewall -Quote: " utterly indestructible Subaru Outback, which continues to be a strong seller here in America despite its bloating size and pour-over into the crossover space ...." End quote. Also http://www.pressregister.com/article_3051f443-7266-5e2d-8280-d842493455d6.html. Now, there is http://qz.com/259000/why-americas-love-affair-with-the-station-wagon-is-over/ Quote: "The real culprit behind the disappearance of the middle class wagon in America (besides the entire American car-buying public) is, in my opinion, the Subaru Outback." End quote
So it appears to me that the Outback is a great car, out-selling any other of the vehicles that straddle the line of crossover/SUV/Wagon “Wagons went the way of the dinosaur because with this new breed you could get everything of a wagon but with all wheel drive and the ride height" ...and get this. Subaru Outback owners are: "are three times more likely than others to take part in active pursuits"
Fordnut, thanks. The Outback has more of the traditional confirmation of a station wagon body than say a Subaru Forester which is taller and boxier than the Outback like a lot of compact SUVs.
