Super low mileage cars.. do you believe them???

When someone says that they're selling a 15 year old car with less than 70,000
miles, do you really question the validity of this ultra low mileage claim???
Or, if you believe it, do you really think they did the proper maintenance? It's ,
time or mileage?? There's people out there who won't do anything to their
cars until it breaks down. Not doing regular maintenance, oil changes,
lubrication, belt maintenance is complete neglect.
Sometimes the only way to tell is to evaluate the condition of the car and ask
for the record of receipts...

Well, I have a 41 year old Elite with only 25,000 miles on it, really depends on what they did with the car when they owned it. Obviously they weren't used for long-distance daily commutes. I do agree you should never just accept the owner's version of anything - check EVERYTHING out, or bring someone in who can do that for you.

By the way, YES, I don't assume anything when it comes to cars.... How do you use your car, 25,000 miles in 41 years is only 609 miles per year! That's about 50 miles per month.... you must live in a really small town or drive it very little..
Mark, no I meant a 1975 Ford Elite, I have it listed in my profile. To pick up on another point you raised, time versus mileage, BOTH can be a factor, an improperly stored car can still rust a lot, especially if it spent a lot of time outside or over gravel or concrete without a vapor barrier. I worked on a car not too long ago, an 05 Ford 500, with less than 20,000 miles on it but had to replace the subframe, it rotted away just from being parked outside over gravel for a long time. Low mileage alone is no guarantee of the car's condition, everything has to be inspected.
