My keyless entry stopped working, how do I fix it?

Asked by Alicia Jan 31, 2015 at 12:25 PM about the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta and
recently my remote will not work. I
changed the battery in it thinking that
was it but it still doesn't work. I can
use it to manually lock and unlock it
with no problems which leads me to
believe that it is a sensor issue inside
the car itself. How do I go about
fixing it?

well a quick way to reboot your car is try this Only if you have the Stereo Codes*. Unhook your battery and leave the car for about 15 -20 minutes. Reconnect the battery and put your key in the ignition turn the key to power on for 10 minutes leaving it in the power on position *do not crank the car over* after that turn the key back start the car shut it off. Get out and try your key if this does not work let me know. And you only need to do the second part if your car has an immobilizer equipped. You can tell by a key symbol on your dash when you flip the ignition to power on.
