I believe the freon needs to be charged in my 2010 jetta tdi. How do I find out the freon information needed in order to have some one in my family do it?

The ac does come on but it is slllooowwww to get cool.   I want to start by checking the
freon.  Where do I find the freon information  about the 2010 Jetta TDI models?  Thanks
for your help.

Newer vehicles use R134a refrigerant...it is much less harmful to the environment. Understand that the AC won't get very cold until you are moving air through the radiator/condenser. Don't expect to sit at idle and create a snow storm. R134a is not as efficient at heat transfer as the older refrigerants, therefore, it takes more airflow over the condenser to produce the desired cooling.
