Misfire in cylinder 2, blowing blue smoke, wont hold rpm at idle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Jeep Liberty 3.7L engine. Used a handheld scanner and got response Misfire in
cyl 2. possible problems say coil issues. Would this cause the blue smoke and
idle rpm to fall? Revving the engine in while in park, you can feel the misfire but
once the engine is warmed, and in drive is is almost nonexistent. Any
suggestions?.

I saw several possible trouble codes listed for idle, on your vehicle. Did you check for codes? I listed one of the codes, below. The possible causes for that code is long. Also, if your scanner shows live engine data, did you look at fuel trims, to see if running rich or lean, when problem is ongoing? As far as cylinder #2 check fuel--spark--compression when problem is ongoing. Just about anything can cause a misfire.
This is list of possible causes for code I listed. good luck

Thank you for the quick response oilyspill. this engine was recently rebuilt due to a blown head gasket. There are only about 500 miles on the engine since the rebuild. The wires and coils do not look new but unsure if they were changed out during the rebuild. Could this possibly have caused the code?
Is there a code? What is code number, if so? W/o testing, I can't tell anything?

Oilyspill, yes, there are now 2 codes. P0300 and P0562. Scanner says low system voltage on the P0562 so we attempted to remove hot wire from battery to see if it would still run. Couldn't even get the clamp off before the engine died. Alternator? As for the other, P0300 code, says multiple cylinders misfiring now. The blue smoke coming from the exhaust smells like wires burning or metal melting. Help Please????
