Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Started the car this morning and low fuel warning was on despite being 3/4
full . Restarted car and it corrected itself. However the service engine light
came on and so I took the car for a free code scan.P0463 was the code.
Mechanic said he reset something and the light is off,but what am I looking at
down the road.    Dennis

The fuel level sensor is mounted in the fuel level sensor unit. The sensor detects a fuel level in the fuel tank and transmits a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The fuel P0463 level sensor consists of two parts, one is mechanical float and the other side is variable resistor. The fuel level sensor output voltage changes depending on the movement of the fuel mechanical float. This happens sometimes and if happens again I would have the sensor changed

If this happens again while I am on the road on a trip how much time can I afford before I get it fixed
