Can I tow a scooter with my 2010 Nissan Altima coupe?

I want to add a hitch to my 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5S 6MT coupe. I am moving out of
state soon and I wish to tow my ~250lb. Genuine Buddy scooter. I have looked and
discovered that the hitches made for the car are Class I hitches with a 1 1/4in. opening,
and that motorcycle carriers have a 2in. opening. Am I able to add a 1 1/4 to 2in
extension on the hitch to accommodate for the attachment? Any advice would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I would strongly recommend that you use a small trailer. 250# plus the carrier weight would be to much for the receiver on the car. Legally (DOT) the max tongue weight on a class 1 is 200 pounds.

I had U-Haul install a hitch on my 2014 Altima 2.5SV. It’s 1-1/4”, but I can pull a 5x8’ enclosed trailer. Probably won’t help the OP, but he’s not the only one who might have similar questions.
