Car Did Not Accelerate When Pushing Gas Pedal

Asked by Griffinm12 Jul 28, 2018 at 06:45 PM about the 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5 S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was in drive and when the light turned green I pushed my gas pedal to
accelerate. My gas pedal went all the way down to the floor with no
response. After 3 seconds my car accelerated (I had my foot on the gas
when it accelerated again). I turned my car around and drove home. This is
the first time something like this happened. I am wondering if anyone has
any answers or ideas for why this happened? My car is a 2010 Nissan
Altima Coupe 2.5 S.

My daughter had the same issue a few days ago, on a hot day. I also have an altima and had this happen on a very hot day in June. I am hearing lots of this......same exact thing!

We had this happen right after a tune up when car was under warranty still. Took back to dealer and they fixed it in a few minutes. You could push the pedal and nothing would happen until about half way down, couple of seconds. Car would not accelerate or increase RPMs but when it did it was immediate so after getting honked at and then almost rear ending a vehicle we took it back to the dealer. They said it was some kind of throttle sensor adjustment, but was a simple fix.

Same thing happen to me on my 2017 Altima 2.5S in warm weather (~85 degrees F outside) after about 100 miles and a 15 minute stop for gas. Later in the evening, after letting the engine and outside area cooled off later that day, it did not repeat. No fix yet, but i plan to bring to dealer.
