New battery - now needs a boost all the time

Asked by GTR_1477 Feb 05, 2017 at 11:59 AM about the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a used a2006 Chyrler Town and Country, I
put a new battery in last year from Costco, and the
van has worked fine for sometime, it gets very cold
where we live so I plug the van in, now for the past
week the Van won't start, I have to use a boost kit
every time I start it -
The mechanics says replace the battery - when I
went to Costco they advised me it's not the battery
and it must be something else. I'm a single mum
and need my van to work - help pls -

Hi GTR, you might have a bad alternator not keeping the battery charged. Try any of the auto parts stores (Advance, Autozone, O'Reillys) they can do a free charging system check. If the battery is low, they'll have to keep it long enough to recharge it before they can test it. BTW what are plugging in, a block warmer?

Maybe your alternator is not charging properly. If you have extreme cold you may need a battery heater mat as cold reduces the battery power a lot.
