2010 Chrysler Town and Country will randomly not start?

From the reading I've been doing looks like a common problem.  Don't
have this problem in the winter only the summer.  So we thought it was an
AC issue so we didn't turn the AC on.  Just this past week we didn't have
AC on went out to eat and when we came out it wouldn't start.  The dash
lights ALL come on, radio, headlights but no clicking noise nothing like it's
trying to turn over.  Any ideas?  No one seems to know whats wrong with it.

It sounds like a WCM. There was a recall on them, so even if a dealership did the recall Chrysler uses reman parts. I would go to a dealership, tell them what the problem is and see... Chrysler guarantees there recalls for life. So if it has been done they will do it again. Remember to take all of your keys to the dealership whenever​ you go.

Our dealerships are about as helpful as Chrysler. Their answer to everything is to put it on the computer and charge me $75 to do that every time. I wI'll try to talk to them to see if a recall was ever done but I know there is no current recall. I will say I wish I never purchased this van. I finally get it paid off and now looking at putting more money into it. I just don't understand why it starts perfectly fine in the winter but spring and summer we have this problem.

Check out the R03 recall. You can call any Chrysler dealership and ask if it was done you'll need your mileage, the last eight numbers of your VIN, and the first four letters of your last name. Tell them to run a V.I.P. they can then tell you if it had a recall, needs a recall, or needs further diag.

Your ignition switch (WCM) is multiplex, meaning that in each position of your key it sends a different resistance to the TIPM. Weather does play into resistance. It is entirely likely that it gets cold or hot and that changes the resistance. So now the key doesn't know what position it is in.

Since this is the most help I've gotten here is another question. When this happens all the gauges and lightshe on dash come on. The gauges all go crazy and the lights flash. Would that be tied possibly to the key issue maybe?

No they do not but I have noticed that every now and then when I start the van they turn on. The switch isn't on.

That could be your high speed bus dropping out. The van doesn't know what the driver input is so it turns on the wipers, headlamps, and sets the HVAC to defrost. I still suspect that the issue is is in the WCM. I recommend that you call your local dealership and have them do that V.I.P. to start.

VIP is a report than dealers run when you come in for service. It includes your service history, warranty coverage, open recalls,etc.

Dollars to donuts, it's the TIPM (total integrated power module). The TIPM has a notorious problem of having FAULTY FACTORY RELAYS installed on the interior circuit boards. Don't run out and spend $1200 for a new TIPM that has these relays - you're throwing away your money and not solving the problem. I replaced the TIPM on my 2010 T&C with a rebuilt unit (cost $325) and it solved everything! Car runs great, A/C is working again, no problems with starting up. I bought my TIPM at: https://www.totalintegratedpowermodule.com I'm not saying you need/should purchase your TIPM from where I bought mine, I'm just saying to verify that the internal relays are not the factory-installed pieces of garbage. If the relays haven't been replaced, there's a big chance the problem will resurface.

I found that the key is worn down on the sides so I stuck my finger in the ignition hole & there is a round plate that moves back with the key....put my finger in the hole and pushed it back,,,,,it started....plus I turn the key too

New Idea - I bought a 2010 T&C about a month ago. No warranty. Starting problems started after a few days - I’ve read ALL these lines of messages! Just to confirm: My problem is - it sometimes doesn’t crank fast enough to start it - then digs down. Tara of experience told me it was electrical. Played w terminals. Enough comments said it wasn’t the starter that I skipped that. The grounding strap from battery negative to engine block I believe helped! I used the bolt holding what looks like a camshaft cover. Now I am thinking this is a compression issue! Happens when it’s hot after a long drive. Wait 20 min and it will start - guaranteed! ( check my AAA record!). Is there a stronger starter available? More torture even at the cost of a few amps?

Exact same issue. The battery cable to the terminals was corroded. Not the terminal to the battery but the cables themselves. I cut off the old terminals expose 1/2 in of new wire on the cable, put in new terminals and worked like a charm
