You will be fine as long as you use the button on the end of the gear selector lever and turn the "overdrive off". I don't recommend cruise control while hauling and pulling such a load because you never know what road conditions you might encounter and cruise control lets you mind wander. If your using your foot to control the gas pedal, most times when your mind wanders it is human nature to lift your foot which would slow you down and bring your attention back to your driving. If the trailer does not have brakes on it, then plan your stopping distances so that you have more space between you and everything else because as the brakes get warmer, stopping distances increase. Stick with the middle or right lane and let everyone go around you (trust me it makes for a lot nicer less stressful ride, especially when the wife is sitting shotgun !). There is no reason why you cant do the speed limit, just judge your speeds on traffic and weather conditions. The last piece of advice I will give you is to remember that you need more space for braking, lane changing, getting back into lane after passing and making right hand turns at intersections.

I'd like to recommend hooking up trailer brakes if your trailer is equipped. They help a lot. Your truck should be fine if you've maintained it properly and give it a good pre-trip lookover.

the trucks 3yrs old but it has 34000 miles on it, practically new...I haul my 4 wheeler around a lot but never the boat and the quad at the same time..ive checked the owner manual and I couldn't really tell if it was ok/smart to haul and tow...just trying to get some input from others who know more than I do if it would be too much for my truck...I don't need to bring the quad up there but id like too...but thanks I appreciate your advice

I have the exact same vehicle. You'll do fine. Just remember not to drive it in overdrive. The tranny will wander around constantly trying to find the correct gear.
