I have a 2010 S. The check engine light has come on throughout the time I've owned it.
I am so upset... I've lived in New Mexico, Kansas and California. All 3
dealerships failed to diagnose/fix the check engine light or address the
"rattling" sound. I eventually blew a head gasket which f&$ked my engine
and cost a few grand, even under a 5 year protection plan.
The rattling got so bad recently (after the re-built engine, mind you) that I
had to take it in, again. They said the timing belt, tension contraption, or
whatever, was faulty. I asked about the class action lawsuit and they said my
VIN falls, "just outside," of the manufacturing dates.
When I attempted to drive it home, it overheated. It was leaking coolant
everywhere. The dealership said this wasn't their fault. It was only a
coincidence. And to put a cherry on top, my battery died. They also said this
had nothing to do with the service. I asked why, if my battery was on the
verge of dying and if my radiator was on the verge of busting a valve --- why
--- didn't my check engine light come on before they serviced it?
I think BMW should be sued for all of the MINIs they've manufactured since
Y2K. This is worse than an American car.
My question, finally, is, "Who wants to file a class action law-suit with me
concerning the check-engine light?"
